It is a requirement that the applicant has assured subsistence, cf. the Immigration Act section 58.

The applicant must have funds corresponding to maximum basic support for higher education from the State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen).

For the study year 2024-2025 this corresponds to NOK 151 690. The basic support is NOK 68 950 for the autumn semester in 2024 and 82 740 for the spring semester in 2025.

For the study year 2023-2024 this corresponds to NOK 137 907. The basic support is NOK 62 685 for the autumn semester in 2023 and 75 222 for the spring semester in 2024.
