It is a requirement that the applicant has assured subsistence, cf. the Immigration Act section 58.

The applicant must have funds corresponding to maximum basic support for higher education from the State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen).

For the study year 2025-2026 this corresponds to NOK 166 859. The basic support is NOK 75 845 for the autumn semester in 2025 and 91 014 for the spring semester in 2026.

For the study year 2024-2025 this corresponds to NOK 151 690. The basic support is NOK 68 950 for the autumn semester in 2024 and 82 740 for the spring semester in 2025.
