UDI 2011-023V1 Example of mandatory explanation of the basis for making a sound recording for the purpose of a language analysis
You have not presented internationally valid travel documents that prove your identity. In order to consider your case, it is important that we know for certain who you are and where you come from. We will therefore make a sound recording of you that can be used as the basis for a language analysis. The language analysis will tell us whether you speak like people do in the place you have stated that you come from. In this way, you can help to clarify the facts of your case, which you are obliged to under Norwegian law.
You will be recorded while speaking for 15 minutes in the way you normally do in your home place. I will record this using a microphone. The interpreter and I will not say anything while you are talking, and we will not ask you any questions.
You can choose what you want to talk about in the recording, but it would be an advantage if you talk about topics related to your upbringing and everyday life where you come from. If you wish, we can make a list of topics together that you can talk about.
It is important that you do not say your own name or the names of any members of your family during the recording, because the recording must be anonymous.
When you have talked for 15 minutes, we are finished.
The people who are going to listen to your recording will only be interested in the way you talk, and not in what you are talking about. The recording will normally not be translated into Norwegian.
Once the results of the language analysis are ready, we will check whether there is anything that does not tally with what you have told us. In such case, we will inform you about the results so that you can comment on them.
The sound recording will be treated confidentially in accordance with the duty of confidentiality that applies in the immigration administration.
Is there anything of this you do not understand?
Examples of topics that you can talk about in the recording:
- The place you come from and the situation there
- Memories from your childhood
- What you used to do with your friends and siblings
- Your schooling
- Public holidays and celebrations
- Holidays and places you have visited
- The celebration of public holidays
